Summer Hues Dyeing and stitching fabrics with textile artist Chris Cooper 16th and 17th of August
Join textile artist Chris Cooper to explore colour, mark making and the relaxing and therapeutic practice of slow stitching on this two day workshop.
Day one you will drop alcohol inks onto three fabric surfaces, the luminous colours mix to create soft abstract shapes. Select one piece to work on further.
Day two respond to the abstract forms and colours with thread and appliqué fabrics to create a unique work of art.
All materials are provided for the two day workshop and to continue stitching further at home.
Suitable for complete beginners and experienced stitchers.
Chris Cooper studies Textiles at Goldsmiths College and has since been involved in education and social care.
Teaching in the prison system, schools, colleges and the wider community where he has developed a holistic and therapeutic approach.
Originally specialising in screen-printing, Chris has more recently found the benefits of slow stitching and has created this course to be accessible to any experience and ability. During this course you will respond to colour and pattern with fabrics and thread in
a painterly way, creating either abstractor or more figurative art works.
Chris has exhibited throughout the UK and Europe and continues to focus on both teaching and his own art practice.
